Does The Expert Roller Have A Down Side?

Yes and no. Unlike several of the tables Stiga offers that are fully assembled upon delivery, the Expert Roller does require assembly. Although the table comes with clear instructions in multiple languages, it still takes around 1 hour for assembly. While this may sound like a long time, table tennis tables are known for complex assemblies with some brands taking 3-4 hours!

Besides having to assemble the table, the only complaint I would have is the price, which is slightly on the steep side of things. While this is so, most top-notch professionals will cost above USD $1,000 and is really marketed for either more serious players or recreation clubs.

One of the complaints about this table is its weight and assembly. It takes some muscles to first transport the box of goods into the right room and then even for assembly, it’s a 2-3 men job. The STS275 Flaws…

Unfortunately, the table does have flaws. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you the Stiga STS275 Table Tennis Table was perfect anyway. First, like most table tennis tables, it takes a couple hours to an entire day to assemble this monster. While most parts can be assembled by 1 person, there will be times when an additional 1-2 people is required. For example, the tabletops, which weigh 70-80 pounds each, must be lifted into the frame. Once assembled, the STS275 offers a perfect bounce, smooth playing surface, and hours upon hours of ping pong fun.

Second, there were complaints I found on the internet where the STS275 came with missing parts. While this should not happen in the first place, Stiga is quite fast at replacing the parts usually within just several days.

First, let me start by saying there are no bad reviews of this table once assembled. What I Liked about Butterfly’s TR35

Despite its relatively high price, I really like two things about the Butterfly Premium Rollaway Table Tennis Table. One, it’s extremely durable. Two, it’s minimal storage space (especially if you have multiple tables).

I don’t expect to see this table used in a competition level table tennis setting due to the 3/4 inch table top (professional tables are usually 1 inch thick). Instead it makes for a great table in leisure, yet highly frequented environments. The table is expensive because of the 1.5 inch frame, 1.125 inch square legs, and a German crafted welded chassis. It offers an institutional grade fold & roll table with 4 inch lockable casters making setup and movement simple and easy. The legs are slightly indented within the table making sure the player has enough room for foot movement beneath the table (without kicking the sides). The quality of this table is top-notch and I imagine a table of this caliber to last a very long time.

Aside from its durability, it’s also very storage friendly. This is a two piece table where each table top can be folded up and rolled away separately. If you own multiple TR35 Premium Rollaways, you can literally have each folded half fit snugly against one and another. The table is 67.5 inches high, 60 inches wide, and 28 inches deep when folded.

My Butterfly TR35 Premium Rollaway Complaints

If assembling furniture is not your thing, you better think twice before buying this table. Butterfly tables always come with precise, well written instructions, however, it does take several hours to put together. While most of the 28 hex nuts and bolts can be fitted by one person, two people is usually required (unless you’re superman) for lifting the tabletop upright once assembled.

If assembled correctly, the table is neatly aligned and many customers has given it “two thumbs up” for its bouncy tabletop. What I Didn’t Like…

Although assembly instructions were clear and precise, most customers found the assembly time to be around 3 hours. Putting the metal frame together can be done by just one person, however, when its time to lift the tabletop into the frame, you’ll definitely need that second hand (each tabletop is around 60 pounds). It’s like buying furniture at IKEA, it comes in a box, whip out the instructions and follow carefully.

There were several very helpful reviews which suggest gathering all the screws and confirming screw lengths and sizes before assembling the table. Many of the screws look identical but are required in specific slots. You’ll need a Phillips-head screw driver and an adjustable wrench to do the job. There were several complaints of missing screws.

While not the most important aspect, the net and post provided with the Butterfly Personal Rollaway is not the highest quality.

One of the major advantages of table tennis is it requires very little space to play. The table itself, the only major investment needed to get the game going, is small enough to fit in most rooms. Ideally, you want to play in larger, open areas with at least 10-20 feet around the table; this is especially true doubles games or matches. Table tennis doesn’t look like an active sport, however, even if you’re mediocre at the game, you’ll be sweating within minutes of playing.
